Grandma Jensen invited the kids and me up to Idaho for a few days, so we decided to go. We left Sunday June 29th and came back late July 2nd. It was my first road trip by myself with all the kids. The way up was really smooth, because Olivia slept almost all of the way. She is the one that doesn't travel too well. Grace and Ryker are pretty easy to travel with. We were glad to get there and were treated to a yummy dinner of lemon chicken. It was GREAT!
Monday we got up fairly early and decided to go to the Museum of Idaho in Idaho Falls. They had a pharoah exhibit going and we thought the kids might like it. It turned out that the exhibit was pretty small and didn't have a lot of cool gory mummies or anything that boys might really dig. But they did like looking at some of the really old things and really enjoyed the Lewis and Clark stuff and the children's part of the museum.
Olivia liked the puzzles and dress up.
They had a replica of an Eagle's nest that the kids could climb up some rocks to.
Grace loved this little log cabin replica. It had a quilt on the wall that you could velcro the squares onto, a little rocking chair, a table and chairs with some dishes, and a cradle with a few baby dolls and clothes to change them. She could have stayed in there for half the day!
After the museum we ate lunch on the grass by the falls. It was really pretty.
Tuesday we had lunch at a park and then went to the Blackfoot swimming pool. Ryker was raving about it ever since he went last year. It is a pretty good pool for kids. They all went down the slide and had a great time! Then I got pampered at the spa while Grandma took the kids to the dollar store. I got a facial, massage and pedicure, and it was soo nice!
Wednesday we decided to venture into the Blackfoot library. It was activity day for the summer reading program, which is about bugs. Lisa and Brenda do such a great job with it! The whole library was decked out in bugs, it was so cute! The kids made little bug houses and then we went to the children's area where they could play with some toys and read books.
There was a really cute picnic basket with sandwich parts, fruits and vegetables, etc. The girls loved it!
They even had bug puppets!
It was a great time, and we owe a great big thank you to Marlene for all the fun things she did for us! We love you!
